Writing about yourself feels weird. On one hand I feel like it is not humble to brag about your accomplishments or skills, while on the other I feel limited describing myself in a few paragraphs. I have always had an aptitude for solving problems. Through all of my schooling I have worked hard to learn theory and then practice it someway that is practical. I worked my way through college doing many jobs: caterer, cook, bank representative, cleaner, salesman, customer service, and doing residential construction. I also seem to always have some sort of project going on as well. I have built a composite canoe, drift trike, commercial wood fired pizza oven, and a solar powered travel van just to name a few. I think this array of experience has given me many soft skills that allow me to excel.
I have a mechanical engineering degree from West Virginia University. In addition to the standard mechanical classes I took courses to learn how to code in Java, engine design, teaching classes, basic electrical engineering, and an intro to manufacturing. I did my capstone project on the University Rover Competition, where I led the mechanical development of chassis and manipulator. This expereince solidified my leadership and SolidWorks skills. I have also designed a UAV to allow farmers to precisely use of water, fertilizer, and pesticide where it is needed most. Other academic projects include building a mini RC hovercrafts, and a basic AI in Java to play Connect Four.
My personal interests often involve travel and nature. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, and camping. I am beginning to get into photography.
